27 gifted and talented
pupils from years 10 and 11 were treated to a tour of both Houses, a talk on
how legislation is made from the Parliamentary Education Service and a Q &
A with Mr Metcalfe.
In the midst of
challenging times for the school, Mr Metcalfe commented on the importance of
recognising the achievements of pupils: “The
Basildon Academies have been in the headlines a lot lately for the wrong
reasons. The visit from the students is a perfect opportunity to remind people
that there are many gifted students at the school who deserve positive
recognition for their hard work and achievements.”
James Turner, a
representative from the Academies, has thanked Mr Metcalfe for the opportunity
and for his open and honest Q & A.
Me Metcalfe added: “It
really was a pleasure to see the students and I hope that they enjoyed the
visit as much as I did.”
