Stephen Metcalfe MP: taking the pledge to support pubs and ‘real ale’

Stephen Metcalfe MP has today spoken on the need to support pubs, and the important role they play as part of local communities up and down the country.

Stephen said: “I recently had a chance to take the pledge to support the important CAMRA [Campaign for Real Ale] in their mission to support the pub industry in the UK.

It is so sad to hear that 31 pubs a week closedown in this country, and we must do all that we can to ensure that this wonderful industry is protected. Not only do pubs provide valuable jobs in our communities, but they also provide a safe, regulated and sociable environment in which people can enjoy a drink.

Pubs face problems because of a number of different factors, including planning permission difficulties. It is vital that politicians keep in mind the interests of pub owners and beer drinkers, and represent their interests in Parliament.”
