Stephen
Metcalfe, local MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock has given a warm
welcome to the news that recorded crime in Essex has fallen over the last
twelve months.
Latest
figures from the independent Office for National Statistics show that recorded
crime in Essex fell by 4%.
Commenting,
local MP Stephen Metcalfe said: “4% may not be the highest fall in reported
crime, but it is nonetheless significant and has been welcomed by people across
South Basildon and East Thurrock. Our hardworking local police officers should
be proud of their success.”
“These
latest figures are clear evidence that Government reforms to policing are
working. This Conservative Government is on the side of people who do the right
thing and as a result, their policies have resulted in safer communities up and
down the country. I look forward to seeing further reductions as the reforms
really take root.”
